Milen Velev will always remain as one of
the brightes stars of the Bulgarian male tennis.He is one
of those first who started tournig. And he had some great
moments. He is the first one to have ever reached a 1/4 final
in an Atp event and until recently he was the only one. His
performance in Athens, where he reached the 1/4 finals became
a real sensation in Bulgaria. When he was in his top form,
he became injured. He admits that this injury period was the
worst in his life, because he didn't know whether he would
play tennis again. He came back on the court a couple of years
ago (1998-1999) and he had some great moments since. Milen
is the first Bulgarin to ever be ranked among the top 150
and he is the first one to enter the main draw of a Grand
Slam event. He was plying for Bulgaria as a part of the Bulgarian
Davis Cup Team and being one of the most experiensed players,
helped the team a lot.In fact, he may not be the most successful
Bulgarian male tennis player, but his Davis Cup results are
amazing. He has won most matches(20) and most singles matches(14),
and played most ties (20).
