Lubomira Bacheva is a class player. She started to play tennis at the age of 5 under her brothers and mothers training. Among her great success is the European Championship Juniors Title. Her enormous potential was shown some years ago in Berlin when she was given a wild card for the qualifications. She passed them and maaged to uset a very good player to become the surprse of the tourney. She however was not able to compete in the proper tourneys mainly because of the lack of financial support.

1999 was the most successful year for Lubomira. For first time in career she reached a semifinal of WTA event. On her debuting on a Grand Slam event she passed the first round and faced the ex N1 Monica Seles. And Lubomira played a fabulous tennis ( as far as I could see on TV it was great), and though she lost it was a great match for her. Afterwards the journalists, impressed by the good play of Lubomira, asked Mnica for her oppinion, she said that Lubomira is a very good, complex and tough to play verses, player. Monica said that she wasn't sure that she could win

The year 2000 was not very successful for Lubomira Bacheva, she suffered some injuries, but she managed to keep her ranking among the top 100 players of the world. Lubomira Bacheva did very well in the doubles however. With a constant partner Torrence-Valerro, she managed to gain her first WTA doubles title in the Budapest event and later reached the finals in Luxemburg. Her singles best performance was a quarterfinal, her best Grand Slam performance is second round in Wimbledon and the Us Open.

Currently Lubomira is living in Holland, where her coach is from. She says that she doesn't like to play in Bulgaria , because everybody espects a win from her. Now Lubomira is N73 in the world and hopefully she continues her good performance

So far, Bacheva's greatest win is over Kim Clijsters of Belgum.
